Friends of the twin towns of Bruchsal and Cwmbrân

“Welsh Evening” at the H7

On 27 October 2025, the Bruchsal Tourismus, Marketing & Veranstaltungs GmbH
(BMTV) and the town hall department Städtepartnerschaften invited to a Cwmbrân
evening of whisky tasting. The H7 was packed with over 60 guests. Since 1979,
Bruchsal has been twinned with Cwbran in Wales. In that evening, the BMTV
presented Bruchsal’s twin town. This week’s series of events aims at making
Bruchsal’s international friendships tangible in an open, enjoyable and informative
setting and at promoting commitment with regard to twinning.
Veronika Crick, Secretary of the Friends of Bruchsal Society, offered a lively insight
into Welsh life with an A-Z video about her home town of Cwmbrân and the South
Wales region. Chris Morgan, Chair of the Cwmbrân Community Counceil, Steward
Matthews, Chair of the Croesyceiliog and Llanyrafon Community Council, and Lord
Mayor Sven Weigt from Bruchsal were present as the twin towns’ official
representatives. The musical aspect was provided by Cwmbrân’s Harmonize Choir
with highly entertaining titles. Exquisite varieties of whiskies from the Penderyn
Distillery were accompanied by delicious Welsh finger food.
So, music, culinary delights, and personal encounters made up for a wonderful
evening. The concept of making town twinning both entertaining and informative was
very well received − this unique atmosphere and lively interest in Wales made the
evening a huge success. (KL)
A miniature selection of fine whisky varieties from the Penderyn Distillery as well as a
wide selection of great products from Bruchsal and the surrounding area as well as
from its other twin towns are available at the H7 in Hoheneggerstraße.
